Calgary's meeting place for local and visiting stamp collectors, the Calgary Philatelic Society, is a non-profit, member-run club that promotes the joys of stamp collecting.

The Calgary Philatelic Society was founded in April 1922 by Dr. Edward George Mason.  (Seen here in 1915 - From "History of the Calgary Philatelic Society" - Dale Speirs).

It is Chapter 66 of the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada, Chapter 1360 of the American Philatelic Society, and Chapter 91 of the American Topical Association.

The Calgary Philatelic Society provides a meeting place for local stamp collectors to get together and share their interest in stamps and postal history.

General meetings, are held on the first Wednesday of the month, (except for July and August), and include a silent auction, a short general meeting, and a technical Philatelic presentation by one of our members.

Coffee and doughnuts are served after the presentation!

Regular auctions are held on the third Wednesday of the month, except December, July and August.

Auction lots should be in before 7:00 pm to allow viewing.

 

Visitors and guests are always welcome.  Meetings and Auctions are held beginning at 7:30pm, with the doors opening at 6:30.  The location for the General Meeting and the monthly Auction is:

The Kerby Centre

 

The Kerby Centre is located on 7th Avenue in downtown Calgary, 1 block west of the LRT terminus for the NE line, directly across the street from Planetarium.  

Enter the building through the east doors (the automatic sliding door on the left in the picture), take the stairs to the second floor, go through the double door and turn right, the first hallway on the left leads to the meeting room.  The meeting room is wheelchair accessible by taking the elevator to the right immediately after entering the building through the automatic sliding door.

 

 

Membership in the Calgary Philatelic Society is $15 per year, with a one time initiation fee of $10.  Membership application forms are available at general meetings.
